Welcome to InternationalSurgeons.com!
My name is Rachel Davis, and I am the 2016-2018 Global Surgery Fellow at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Many medical students and residents are interested in pursuing global health work, but struggle to find resources to help direct them in their training. In addition, numerous practicing health care workers have difficulty connecting with others with similar interests to discover active projects, funding, and local support communities.
This site was created to increase collaboration between global health organizations, and in doing so, aid health care workers to more efficiently and effectively train, research, and practice. Though the primary focus is on treating surgical disease in resource-limited environments, a wide variety of health topics are welcome here.
The blog portion of the site will focus on my current training in Global Surgery, but will also incorporate guest posts by students, residents, fellows, physicians, and researchers on many topics of global health. If you are interested in sharing your story, please contact me! I would love to include you.
Thank you for visiting the site and for your interest in health care delivery to many challenging areas! I hope to meet you either by email or in person.
